Baptisms, Birthdays, Cake Emergencies and Flashes of Life!!

Weird title right? Well this past weekend I had 1 baptism cake and 2 birthday cakes!  Totally rocked the whole three cakes in one day thing!  So bring on the orders if you want a cake!

This first cake was for a little 2 year olds birthday!  His mom wanted mickey mouse and really liked the shape and colors of this cake. It's white cake with a chocolate buttercream. The bottom tier was red chocolate buttercream and the top was covered in fondant.  I loved the polka dots and the number on this cake!  So much fun!

This is the other birthday cake for a friends dad.  He obviously has varied likes and so I tried to put what I could on top.  All of the tools and sports stuff is made out of fondant and hand painted by me.  The cake was chocolate with a chocolate cream filling.  It also had chocolate fondant covering the outside!! so yummy and smelled delicious!

This last cake was a really fun one!  It was for a baptism.  It was a white cake with a lemon curd filling on one side, and a strawberry curd on the other.  The frosting is a vanilla buttercream with cute pink scroll work and daisies!

Polka Dots and Cut Fingers?????

I totally cut my pointer finger to day while I was leveling a cake I was using for a birthday cake I was making. Now i know what you are thinking.......did any get on the cake!?..........no.  I really sucked though!  It was hard decorating the cake with a bandaid on!  But the cake turned out really cute!  It was a strawberry cake from scratch with a from scratch strawberry filling!  I didn't taste it all together but separately the cake and filling tasted amazing!  I hope the family thought so too! The smaller cake was a smash cake for the little 1 year old to dive into!

Barney Wedding

I had the opportunity to make a wedding cake for a family friend this past week.  From the moment I saw the pic of what she wanted I thought "I have to do this wedding cake"  Thankfully they wanted me to do it as well.  It was so incredibly stunning!  I made her a lemon cake with lemon buttercream.  The decoration was what I could only describe as fondant petals coming off the cake!  We used yellow stargazer lilies and blue orchids on the cake.  Here are the pics of the completed masterpiece!  I got such a great compliment from the photographer (who I hope will send me some of the pics he took of the cake), he said "being in this business, I have seen literally hundreds if not thousands of cakes and this one is one of the most unique and beautiful I have seen!"  Made me feel pretty darn good! Enjoy!

Rain drops on roses and snowflakes on.......cupcakes?

I thought I remembered the words to that song "My favorite things" but apparently I don't! ;)  Oh well, the snowflakes part goes with my most recent creations.  300 absolutely beautiful....and scrumptuous tasting I might add.......cupcakes for my friends wedding reception.  I made three different kinds, 100 of each.  Chocolate with a peppermint cream filling and buttercream frosting done in lemon grass green with two small snowflakes and tiny edible pearls on it.  A white cake with a custard cream filling, eggplant colored buttercream frosting with one big fondant snowflake and tiny edible pearls, and finally a red velvet cake, with cream cheese filling, a cream cheese/buttercream frosting decorated with sparkly crystals and tiny pearls.!  I think they all turned out amazing!  Enjoy!
