Stars, Stripes, crowns.......and Elmo?

Yep you read it right!  The past couple of weeks were CRAZY with cakes!!  I........volunteered to make the dessert for my husbands family b-day celebration for the month of July.  Doesn't seem so crazy right?  well there are EIGHT b-days in July for them!!  Yep eight!  so I got the awesome notion to ask each one what their fav kind of cake was and I would make it for them!  It turned out so cute but was a lot of work!  But thats what I do and I LOVE it!

Don't really know why this one turned on its side after I took it! :p

The next cake I made was actually quite the pain in the butt!  It was so cute but I went through a lot of product to get it made!  If something could go wrong with this cake it did!  When all was said and done I ( and I know I say this with every cake)  think this was my favorite one to do.  it just turned out so cute!

This next cake was done for my good friend from high school Chris's son who turned 3 on Sunday!  Chris did me a HUGE favor and fixed my computer and saved me a TON of money so I did him a favor and created a masterpiece for his son!!  He loves Elmo and sports!  you can kinda see it but there is a little white "Y"  on the football in front because he loves BYU!  again my newest favorite cake!  where Madi's was the most difficult, this cake was.......well cake to put together!!

Oh my gosh! I can't believe I forgot! Roller Coasters!!

About a week after my b-day I made a cake for my aunt who LOVES roller coasters!!  Well that's an understatement  I think she would live at Lagoon if she could!!  So I was asked to make a roller coaster cake for her 45th b-day!!  This one took a while to figure out how I was going to do it, but once it was done it turned out to be stupendous!

Nope not a coffee cake, but a Coffin cake!

Coffin cakes are all the rage and taking the place of the coffee cake!!...................Ok well not really but that was the theme of my last cake done for a friend of my cousins!  He turned 40 and apparently that's close to being dead!!  Yep he is now over the hill!!  Although.......if turning 40 is being close to dead then I am in trouble!!  No I am not 40 yet but I did just turn 32 so I really only have a few good years left!!  Yea right!! I will be going until they stop me!!  This was a really fun cake to do and I think pretty darn cool looking too!!

See the cool wood grain I did on the fondant?!

Jazz, Bulls and Soda shoppe!

Last week I did two cakes......well one big cake, a giant cup cake and about 4 doz cupcakes!  My friend had two kids both with b-days within a week of each other and they both LOVE basketball (thats putting it mildly!)  so we came up with an idea to put the two teams they liked the most onto one cake!  we did one side Bulls and the other side Jazz.  We made the jerseys out of fondant as well as the team logos.  the basketball in the middle is made out of cake and covered in fondant! and yes I did hand paint the face on the bull!! :)  Inside the Bulls side was white cake with strawberry filling.  Inside the Jazz side was chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream filling!!  Delish!

The cupcakes and giant cupcake were for my sis & bro in laws daughters 6th b-day.  She wanted a soda shoppe / antique candy theme and I came up with some killer cupcakes!!  I made a sundae cupcake with some frosting and ganache on the top to look like choc syrup with a straw coming out the side of it.  the other ones looked like a tub of pop corn and lollipops made out of fondant!  they turned out so cute!
